Presently a commune with over 1000 dwellers and 326 households, Lisa is situated at the foot of the Făgăraş Mountains, in the ancient “Făgăraş County” or “County of Olt”, between the Făgăraş Mountains and the Olt river, not far from the Sâmbăta de Sus Monastery.

In addition to the practice of traditional occupations, agriculture and breeding, in the last decades of the XX^th century, many people from Lisa worked in the industrial enterprises from the towns of Făgăraş and Victoria, and since 1989 hundreds of young people have been working in the European Union states, especially Italy. Although the aspect of the village and the life styles have been mostly modernized, elements of  traditional culture and civilization are still preserved.
